Extended worktop

Almost all motorhomes have problems with worktop space in the kitchen.

Whilst sat at Henley the other weekend I decided to add a folding shelf next to the sink…

Using a piece of 400mm wide furniture board from B&Q and folding brackets from Amazon. I got the board cut into two 320mm pieces at the store as it saves me cutting it myself, and I needed it 400mm wide too so that was the easy part.

I rounded the corners off the shelf and sanded the whole board to take off the sharp edges. A couple of coats of Danish Oil were applied to add a water resistant coating. At some time in the future I’ll re-oil the board with a darker colour to match the van better.

The brackets are mounted to the cupboard using m4 machine screws with added 25mm washers on the back.
